Skimmington Castle is a Public House just off Reigate Heath
with very good beer and food, and is normally crammed. We have bought
forward our event starting time for summer evening meetings to benefit
from the daylight and to allow return home during 'daylight'. The large
Skim pub car park at the rear is split into two halves and we normally try and
manage to fill one half without difficulty. The Skim is one of our best
outside meetings of the year and parking can be at a premium. Getting
there early normally helps. This time the weather was just right and our
turnout was very good , as indeed was that of the general public. Our half
of the car park was quadruple parked in places and getting in and out was occasionally
problematic. Our Chas Moody, who as well as distributing the SVVS magazine
was keeping the count of attendees, reports that we had a grand total of 61 members
present, some with partners, and thinks doubtless he has missed one or two
in the melee. Out
of the 61 cars, 46 were eligible vehicles relative to the Register. There
were also five newer Classic vehicles present, a few cars not seen before,
and also a number of Members came in moderns, despite some having started out
in oldies. Regretfully photographer President Bozi Mohacek had to leave early
so some cars that came later may have not been photographed. This
doubtless covers the normally late Mr. Simon Bishop !
