The Red Barn at Blindley Heath is our last outside mid-month meeting of the year and signals that Christmas and New Year are not far away. The weather here can be quite unpredictable. Last year it was lovely with a turnout 32 proper cars. This time it was gloomy cold and drizzly with an unimpressive turnout of only eight proper vehicles. A number of Members came in moderns. Red Barn is a very popular eatery with a lovely smart barn restaurant and has a nice big roomy car park. It can sometimes be quite packed and getting a table to have lunch can be quite difficult. And indeed, the pub was packed out with sunday-luncheaters so we huddled outside in the breezy but quite nice pergola which fortunately had glass in-between the rafters to stop rain coming through. Amongst the noticeable attendees were Michel and Helen Gosset in their 2CV, not renowned for their regular attendances, but this time quite noticeable by Helen's broken arm and hubby Michel with a stitched gash on his forehead. We initially thought that must have been some quite impressive family barney, but it seems apparently that Helen broke her arm while riding her scooter while at their flat in Paris, and Michel gashed his head making coffee. That is their story anyway! Also noticeable was our trans-continental long distance rally champ John Wickens in his XK150 just back from his arduous trip round Jersey!
