Outwood is a lovely village in Surrey near Gatwick which has the oldest working windmill in Britain in the middle of the common. Once a year the village holds a Carnival which starts with a procession of Vintage Cars from the Windmill to the Carnival site adjacent to Lloyd Hall. The Carnival is frequently opened by Dame Judy Dench, as this year, who is an Outwood resident. She can be seen sitting in the little Austin together with the show MC Paul Daniels in the picture below. Weather was good for the day although it had been raining previously so part of the showground was boggy which resulted in Bozi Mohaceks's rather large and heavy Rolls Royce Shooting Brake, which was ferrying one of the show celebrities Mrs Jean Bristow, to ignominiously bog down and get stuck. Fortunately there was an equally large American Reynolds Boughton RB44 military four wheel drive in the parade which made mincemeat of pulling it out.  The Rolls eventually did get out,  only just,  under its own steam.
