New Year's Day 2023 blossomed dull, damp and grey, and there were traces
of floods locally, so Mrs President decided that she should drive Mr
President in her 4x4 barreled battlecruiser just in case. No need
to have worried. Despite the iffy weather no rain or floods were encountered and,
to our surprise, the The Beehive was already packed to triple-parking of
SVVS cars. The final number from our bean-counter Chas Moody advised a very respectful turnout of
some 29 cars and one bicycle, and a few moderns discretely scattered in the local
streets, - a very similar number to last year. Unlike last year, when the pub was
almost empty due to the latest covid variant, the place was overflowing
with, and aromatised by, the masses of Sunday Eaters. Not much room at the
Inn - especially when out of the blue a cloudburst had everybody
diving for cover, and those with dogs - leaving. Got a bit steamy in the
entrance after that.
